This morning I had the fortunate experience of attending "Shop With a Cop" in Newport News. What an enjoyable morning! Santa, our Newport News Police Officers, volunteers, and WVEC were there, as were many, many children that went shopping with our Newport News Police Officers for Christmas. One mother told me that this experience was "a real blessing" for her children because if were not for the NNPD her children would not have Christmas this year. She had fallen on hard times and it caused her tearful nights thinking about her children on Christmas morning and their lack of presents. "Now," she said, "they will have a Christmas!" It brought joy to my soul just talking with her and I know that she is not alone in those thoughts.
