I made it home from work and decided to dust off my old 6" reflector Telescope that hasn't seen the light of day in 15 years. I missed out on the last Venus transit in 2004 and since this is the last we get to see this in our lifetimes. The next Transit doesn't take place until 2117.
My solar filters were missing along with my camera mount, much to my disappointment. So I had to get innovative. I looked around and decided my music stand and a large white box lid would do the trick. It actually worked far better than expected. The final result was a 5" sun disk displayed on the box lid with Venus out front.
The neighbor finally arrived home from shopping so he and his wife were able to get a look just before the sun dipped below the tree line, which capped the evening. Rare astronomical moments are best when you get to share them.
