My husband moved next door to this grand pecan tree 65 years ago and the tree was full grown then. Today, without any fanfare, the mighty tree, battered by the winds, uprooted by the rains, gently laid down its life. Sadly, it was full of this years fruit, wonderful pecans we will never again anticipate picking up off the ground in November and December. On a positive note, no homes were hit, no persons injured, only our back fence didn't survive this mighty tree's toppling.
