A strong cold front will cross the area this evening, bringing an end to the mild temperatures. Heavy rain and gusty winds will accompany the front as it moves through. Overnight lows will drop into the 30s, and a freeze warning is in effect for interior Southside, interior North Carolina, the Peninsula, and Gloucester and Middlesex Counties.
Behind the front, it will be mostly sunny Wednesday but temps will struggle to make it to 50 degrees. Factor in the gusty north winds and it will feel like the lower 40s for much of the day. Temperatures rebound a bit Thursday and Friday, with highs in the mid 50s under partly to mostly cloudy skies.
