A cluster of showers and storms located about half-way between Africa and South America could develop into the third tropical depression of this year's Atlantic hurricane season.

Right now, the National Hurricane Center gives this about a 30% chance of becoming a tropical system in the next 36-48 hours.

The chances of it becoming a tropical system in the 5 days jumps to 70%, so it definitely needs to be monitored closely. The initial motion is westward and the early model runs suggest that will continue for the next few days.
