VIRGINIA BEACH- The search continued Wednesday for a woman who went missing on Christmas Eve day in Va. Beach.

Alek Hartzog says his mom, Diane, took a walk around noon on December 24. She was heading in the direction of False Cape in Sandbridge.

When she didn’t return to the home the family had rented for a Christmas holiday reunion, her family called Virginia Beach police.

Hartzog says his mother suffers from severe depression and he’s worried about her safety.

“The police have done an amazing job. Their response was so fast and energetic,” Hartzog said.

Police and EMS searched Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, knocking on doors, hoping neighbors could give clues. K-9s, a police helicopter, the EMS search and rescue team and officers from Currituck Co., NC were involved on Christmas Day and the day after, searching the area from Back Bay to False Cape, said MPO Grazia Moyers.

Moyers also said the real estate companies for Sandbridge have been contacted and vacant rental homes are being checked.

If you have seen Diane Hartzog or know anything about her disappearance, call the Va. Beach Police Dept. at 757-385-5000
