VIRGINIA BEACH – Two men are in custody after police say they stole from neighbors during Hurricane Irene.

Patrick McGuire, 29, and Charles Andrews IV, 22, are being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.

Police say the two men stole alcohol and an iPod speaker system from a home in the 3200 block of Sandfiddler Road.  The men live just a few blocks away in the 3200 block of Sandpiper Road.

It happened shortly before 4:00 Saturday afternoon as 13News was reporting live at the scene where several homes had been damaged during a small tornado.  It turns out, the photographer caught the looters on video.

Police had been patrolling the Sandbridge area because of the storm and were able to get to the scene quickly.  They chased one of the men on foot and also found the second man at the same house.

The stolen items were recovered and returned to the victim.

Sandbridge was under a mandatory evacuation order.  Residents were allowed to return Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.

Both McGuire and Andrews are charged with burglary and grand larceny.
