Chesapeake water main break
CHESAPEAKE - More than a dozen apartments and two homes in Chesapeake could be without service for most of the day because of a broken water main.
A contractor crew hit and broke the 8-inch water main in the area of Dunedin and Woodbaugh drives around 6:10 a.m., city spokesman Heath Covey told WVEC.com.
He said Public Utilities crews are making repairs and Public Works crews have put down salt/sand so streets don't freeze.
Covey says it could be as late as 5:00 p.m. for all service to be restored.
In Va. Beach, water is back on for about 400 customers now that an 8-inch water main has been fixed. It broke early Friday
The line at the intersection of Hutton Lane and Oconee Avenue near Va. Beach Blvd. and London Bridge/Great Neck Road, broke around 5:00 a.m. Friday. Crews expected service to be out until early afternoon, but they got the water flowing again around 9:30 a.m.
