NORFOLK - Dining at Baker's Crust in Hampton Roads in July will help local charities.
The restaurant's Color Me Caring program, now in its second year, donates $1.00 for each item on a specific menu.
At the Ghent store in Norfolk, the designated charity is Lee's Friends; at the Hilltop store in Va. Beach, money helps the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center; at the Greenbrier/Chesapeake restaurant, donations are being given to the March of Dimes and the Williamsburg Baker's Crust is involved with Avalon: A Center for Women and Children.
"We’ve been fortunate to be selected by the Ghent Baker’s Crust as their chosen charity for their “Color Me Caring” campaign," said Becky Ruffin, the assistant director of Lee's Friends, the Norfolk-based non-profit group that helps people battling cancer. "It’s a great program that raises local dollars for local charities."
Restaurant officials say they raised $18,500 last year. Click here to see the menu and learn more about the program on the Baker's Crust Website.
The Color Me Caring program picks up again in September. Charities helped during that month will be the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank.
