HAMPTON ROADS-- The snow has almost melted in Hampton Roads but the winter weather is still causing hazards for drivers.

Pot holes have gotten worse over the last few days due to frozen water expanding within existing cracks in the roadways.

Public Works crews say they are locating problem spots and are getting ready to make temporary patches.

VDOT spokesperson Brooke Grow says they will temporarily fill the pot holes with a winter asphalt mix until permanent repairs can be made in the spring.

“The goal is once spring comes we go and make a complete repair, which would actually cut out that area and then make permanent repair with an entire new patch, with hot mix asphalt, which is a long term fix for the situation," says Grow.
