Norfolk firefighters save rock band from burning building

NORFOLK- Fire units were called to 25th street and Newport Avenue for a fire at a commercial building Wednesday afternoon.

According to Capt. Mike Hicks, the fire started on the exterior of the building and was working its way inside when firefighters arrived around 5 p.m.

Three people were inside the building at the time of the fire and got out safely.  The three men were members of the rock band Galaxy Dynamite and were practicing when the fire broke out.

The fire department had the fire under control quickly.

According to the batallion chief  on the scene, the building was being used as a worship place.

Damage was minimal to the building.  The fire is still under investigation.
