7-Eleven robbery on tape
NEWPORT NEWS -- A robber threatened the clerk in a Newport News convenience store not to call police, authorities said.
Surveillance cameras caught the man as he approached the 7-Eleven on West Avenue early Tuesday. The interior cameras show the clerk running away as the man goes into the store.
Police say the clerk believed he had a knife as he demanded money from the cash registers. He had a gray T-shirt pulled up over part of his face.
After getting money, he ran out and headed south on West Avenue.
The suspect he had a gray T-shirt pulled up over part of his face, but the clerk said he had a deep voice.
He's described as being black, perhaps in his 30s, about 6'2" tall, around 250 pounds and he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with long black or blue sleeves.
