SUFFOLK--A dog trapped for two days in drainage pipe in Suffolk had to be euthanized Thursday.

Prissy, an elderly Shetland Sheepdog with brain cancer, went missing Tuesday and the owner couldn't find her.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue and Animal Control workers teamed up to rescue her from an underground pipe in the 1600 block of Copeland Road.

They dug around the 17-inch drainage pipe on the owners’ property and then hand-dug a three-foot hole to reach her.

She was freed, covered with a blanket and given some water before being taken to the vet.

There was no information about how the dog got in the pipe.

The owners of the dog told wvec.com that, due to the trauma of the extended entrapment, the dog had to be put to sleep.
