NEW ORLEANS - A five-alarm fire raged at the iconic Hubig's Pies facility Friday morning in the Faubourg Marigny.
WWL-TV reports the fire began around 5 a.m. at 2417 Dauphine St. Flames shot out of the back of the building -- the area where pie production occurs.
There is a lot of grease in the production area, according to a Hubig's employee.
Firefighters were entering the building through a front garage, but the entrance collapsed around 5:30 a.m. as the fire spread towards the front.
At least 32 trucks and 95 personnel were on the scene of the blaze in the historic neighborhood as the fire intensified from a two-alarm to a five-alarm.
Firefighters were shooting water up and over the factory, which was built in 1922, to try to get inside of the building in the middle of the block.
Heat from the fire could be felt a block away.
No injuries have been reported.
