On the Record: Carrier relocation; holiday need
The Navy has published an 1800 page report, detailing why it wants to base a nuclear aircraft carrier in Jacksonville, Florida. Virginia was counting on home porting that ship, probably the USS George W. Bush, which will be commissioned soon. The community that gets the carrier stands to gain millions in positive economic impact. To put the flattop in Florida though will require over $600-million in new construction, which Virginia claims is unnecessary when the piers are ready in Norfolk.
This Sunday, Frank Roberts, who heads the Hampton Roads Military and Facilities Alliance, and Mal Branch, a former carrier commanding officer who now runs the Virginia Ship Repair Association, make the case for Hampton Roads.
Also, representatives from two leading charities which are collecting food and money for the needy discuss the holiday need. Linda Vaughan of Union Mission and Capt. Lewis Reckline of the Salvation Army go On The Record.

Kodak is now selling a two lens pocket digital camera, one's a zoom, and one is wide angle. We give it a test.
