NEWPORT NEWS – A mother and her daughters will move into their new home, courtesy of Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg and Tysinger Motor Corporation.
Wanda Riddick and her nine and 12 year olds will move to the house on 32nd Street later today. She's buying the home with a 30-year, no-interest mortgage carried by Habitat.
Riddick, a certified nursing assistant, can't wait to move in to the 1,200 square foot, three bedroom, two bathroom home.
“This safe and affordable home will be the best place to raise my daughters and I am actually looking forward to paying my mortgage!”
Habitat officials say all their homes are EarthCraft and Energy Star-certified.
The home will be dedicated at 4:00 p.m. and executives from Tysinger, Habitat for Humanity representatives, and officials from the City of Newport News and the Redevelopment and Housing Authority will attend.
Tysinger Motor Company helped raise the funds for this home at an event last spring at their Hampton dealership.
