NEWPORT NEWS -- Some two dozen Newport News property owners gave the Virginia secretary of commerce and trade an earful Monday about living with Chinese drywall.
In front of the Hollymeade subdivision, Jim Cheng listened to each person's experience.
Latasha Parker moved her family out of their townhouse two months ago. She continues to pay the mortgage, property taxes and association fees on top of rent on an apartment.
"We need some financial relief," she told Cheng.
Cheng assured them he'll take their concerns to Governor Bob McDonnell.
Last week, Norfolk City Council passed a resolution asking McDonnell to request FEMA funds to help home owners rebuild.
On Tuesday, Virginia Beach City Council is expected to vote on a similar resolution. It requests McDonnell to activate all available emergency and relief resources for the benefit of homeowners impacted by "Chinese Drywall."
Del. Glenn Oder (R-94th D) has three bills in the House of Delegates dealing with Chinese drywall. HB44 and HB45 deal with insurance issues and HB46 deals with the Disaster Response Fund.
