NORFOLK -- USS Carr returned home Monday after its final deployment.
The ship's final mission included seven drug busts in the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific Ocean.
Working with forces from Panama, Colombia, and Costa Rica, the crew stopped thousands of pounds of cocaine and marijuana, with an estimated street value of about $120 million, from reaching the streets.
Sailors aboard the USS Carr also helped a fishing vessel that was adrift in the Eastern Pacific for seven days, providing the fishermen with water and food.
The crew took part in several community relations projects including the delivery of medical and hygiene supplies to an orphanage.
The crew is home in time to reunite and celebrate Christmas with family.
USS Carr was commissioned in July of 1985, and is scheduled to be decommissioned in March.
