VIRGINIA BEACH - A Norfolk man is charged in the shooting of two men outside the Bayside Inn Restaurant and Lounge on Pleasure House Road last week.
Beach Police say one of the victims was standing with a group of people around 1:00 a.m. when Gary Lee Drew Jr. asked them who was performing at the club during a competition.
They talked about the event and Drew walked away and then returned with a gun and opened fire, investigators said.
Deshawn Campbell was in the parking lot when he heard seven shots.
"I got in my car and heard some gunshots, people running that way, people running this way coming out of the place. People were taking cover. We didn't know where the bullets were coming from," he said.
The victims, ages 23 and 30, were treated at the hospital.
Drew, 20, has been charged with Felonious Assault, Aggravated Malicious Assault, two counts of Use of a Firearm, and Reckless Handling of a Firearm.
There appeared to be approximately 70 people at the club, police said. On the Bayside Inn Website, its Wednesday calendar shows a program called Cess Beats Presents: The Show, but police didn't say whether that was the event.
