NORFOLK-There's a big event Thursday afternoon to raise money to make improvements on HVAC systems for local charities that help kids.

It's called E4K, Energy for Kids and the folks behind it will host a pig roast at Talbot Hall, 600 Talbot Road in Norfolk, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Local HVAC contractors are raising money this year to help SPMS, the non-profit Special Persons Mailing Service in Va. Beach. The group employs more than 30 adults with special needs.

E4K, now in its fourth year, was developed to help local charities lower the costs associated with heating, cooling and hot water by allowing them to buy energy-efficient equipment.

| So far, the E4K of Hampton Roads effort has raised more than $40,000. Members will also teach other chapters how to design and install energy saving HVAC equipment at other non-profits.
