NORFOLK -- Kevin Edwards told 13News Now he came outside his home in Campostella, sat down, then heard several gunshots and saw 2 people running down the street.

"When the individual started shooting down there, everyone that was down there started scattering to try to get away from him," recalled Edwards.

1 person was hurt during the shooting which took place on Manson Street near Wilson Road.

A child's birthday party had to be put on hold when police taped off an entire block of Manson.

"I hope they caught him," said Edwards. "That's crazy to shoot somebody in broad daylight like this. It doesn't make any sense, especially when there's a whole bunch of people around here, and the block is full of kids."

Paramedics took the person who was shot to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Anyone with information about the shooting can contact Norfolk police officers through Crime Line. The number is 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
