In an interview with 13News Monday, Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) talked about the impact of the shooting in Tucson.

"The last thing we need is to put an even larger barrier between our elected representatives officials and the people who hire us. Just as it was when I was governor and we dealt with the sniper for a couple of weeks, I felt it was my resp. to continue to be out doing my job.  It’s my responsibility to continue to be out doing my job and letting people hear me, tell me their views, make their complaints,” he said.

Rep. G. K. Butterfield (D-NC) told 13News Monday that there's heightened awareness of the danger. He said Congressional members cannot use any official resources in their operating budget for their security.

He also said lawmakers are having a conference on Wednesday to look at security measures going forward.
