KNOTTS ISLAND -- Currituck County deputies say they found a meth lab in the woods while nabbing a fugitive.

Steven Blankenship was found on Bill Perry's dock on Saturday.

Perry says a neighbor alerted him that deputies were searching for Blankenship in his backyard.  His wife started locking doors inside while he started taking video of the search.

Perry says Blankenship got suspiciously close to his pontoon boat.

"I figured 'Oh my God, he's trying to lower my boat.' So I went in the garage here and tried to shut off the power so he couldn't do that," said Perry.

Deputies eventually arrested Blankenship.

Lindsay Voorhees of the Currituck County Sheriff's Office said during the search deputies discovered a meth lab in a wooded area.

Detectives say it's too early to say if Blankenship had anything to do with the meth lab.

No suspects have been arrested in connection with the meth operation.
