NORFOLK—The fight continues to protect the eagles at Norfolk Botanical Garden.

Saturday, a group marched through the garden carrying signs in protest.

The “Eagle on Alliance” members organized the walk through Facebook. They’re upset that the USDA keeps removing the nests from the garden. The effort comes because of fears that the eagles will crash into planes at the nearby Norfolk International Airport.

“This is the first eagle removal permit issued, in the name of airport safety when the nest was not located on airport property. Now explain that to me?” organizer Carol Senechal said.

The USDA has removed the nests three times, but the birds keep flying back and building new nests.
