NORFOLK -- Police responded to Maury High in Norfolk Thursday after receiving a report of a possible weapon on school grounds.
According to Norfolk Public School spokeswoman Elizabeth Mather, a student at Maury reported overhearing a conversation among a group of other students. In the conversation, a weapon was referenced.
Some parents told 13News Now they were concerned the school wasn't placed on lockdown.
"Please keep in mind that this was a report from a student who overheard a conversation. Everything we did today was a precaution," Mather said.
Norfolk Public School Security and Norfolk Police continue to investigate.
No weapon has been found, and no students were arrested.
Parents were notified via Edulink.
