NORFOLK - A standoff that lasted several hours in Norfolk ended with the arrest of a man wanted for parental kidnapping.

Officers were called to Killam Ave. and W. 36th Street just before 9:30 a.m.  - the home of Warner Edward Byrd.

At 10:45 a.m., members of the Norfolk Police Dept. Special Operations Team arrived and put on tactical gear.

Members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation were also at the scene.

After firing several rounds of tear gas through the second floor windows the home around 12:15 p.m., police say Byrd came out and was arrested.

A woman was seen leaving the home before that and police didn't immediately have information about her.

Amos said Byrd was wanted on 10 warrants from other localities in Hampton Roads to include Accomack Co. and Va Beach
