NORFOLK - An Old Dominion University student was struck in the arm by an air gun pellet late Wednesday night, prompting officials to send an alert to students.

ODU officials say he told police he was standing alone at the corner of Killam Ave. and 45th Street around 10:45 p.m. when a car pulled up.

"He said no words were exchanged but he heard a noise and the car drove off.  After that, he felt a pain in his elbow," related ODU spokeswoman Jennifer Mullen.

Doctors who treated him reported he'd been struck by the pellet.

Norfolk and ODU police are looking for the vehicle - a blue Buick LeSabre - that had two men inside.
