Norfolk teen killed
NORFOLK-- Police have made an arrest in connection with the shooting death of 19-year-old David White Friday night.
Homicide investigators arrested a 15-year-old male early Tuesday morning.
The teen is being charged with murder and use of a firearm. Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
White was murdered the night of a football game in the 1300 block of Goff Street. His friends are fighting for justice.
Friend Jamal Hamilton says he saw David, or "Deeboy" as they called him, the night he died.
He and his roommate gave David a ride to the Booker T. Washington football game.
Hamilton says White had a bright future.
"He was planning on finishing school. He only had one class to go. He wanted to graduate and make something out of his self. He wanted to go to the Navy. He was about to do some big things, and it’s crazy that someone just had to take his life like that."
Principal Reba Jacobs-Miller said grief counselors were on hand at the school Monday for any students who may need support.
Sunday night during a candlelight vigil, family and friends gathered to remember White.
Hundreds of people packed the corner of Scott Street and Seay Avenue in Norfolk Sunday night to honor the teen.
A wake will be held on Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and funeral arrangements are scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. Both services are at the Metropolitan Church located on Berkley Avenue in Norfolk.
