NORFOLK - It was sold out last year, so don't miss this weekend's “Men Who Cook: Hampton Roads.” The amateur chef competition is sure to dish up fun from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at the Norfolk Plaza Hotel at 700 Monticello Ave.

“25 two-man teams of local amateur chefs compete against each other.  The food presentations are diverse, imaginative--and rival many of the area’s top professionals,” says Primeplus Norfolk Senior Center Executive Director Lynne Berg.

The judges are all women - led by honorary chairwoman Rowena Fullinwider of Rowena’s fame - and will determine winners in categories such as People’s Choice, Most Likely to Cook in My Own Kitchen and Tantalizing Taste Bud.

“’Men Who Cook’ was created as one solution to meet our fiscal challenges as we work to help older adults age successfully and enjoy a good quality of life. Proceeds from this event provide wellness programming and support for our Nutrition Program which serves over 1,000 hot, home cooked meals for seniors each month,“ says Berg.

Tickets are $50 in advance, $55 at the door, and $180 for a four pack.
