GLOUCESTER -- A store clerk had just sat down to eat a hotdog when two masked men entered High Tyde Trading & Tobacco Sunday night in Gloucester Point.

One of the suspects motioned that he was armed.   Together he and his accomplice knocked over a display case and attempted to take the cash register out of the store.

"When I walked over I realized he didn't have a gun -- that's when I decided to do something.  But, I didn't really know what to do," said Josh Burleson.

The 19-year-old college student and the suspects got into a struggle as they tried to flee the business.

"I tried to stop both of them and they made it out the door until I grabbed the one with the register and got it back.  I acted on instinct," said Burleson.

The would-be robbers left the store -- taking nothing with them.

No one injured.

The Gloucester County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident.  If you have any information call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
