Jamestown Rd. larceny from vehicles
JAMES CITY COUNTY-More than 70 vehicles in one section of James City County have been hit by thieves taking valuables.
Authorities say the crimes have occurred in the last month along Jamestown Road.
The thieves aren't just taking cash or cell phones. Tony Short's $55,000 SUV disappeared from his driveway and the criminals rifled through his wife's pickup truck last weekend.
"I had like my tools sitting on the seat, basic kid stuff, a tool bag, my wife's purse," he said. "The truck was gone, my truck was gone through I had expensive work tools, I'm a technician, a couple of laptops. I never lock my vehicles, never have man. It's just one of those things. I've always lived in a good neighborhood."
That's what Kelsey Doughtery thought of where she lives until Saturday night. Her iPod had been taken from her unlocked car.
"When I woke up, my makeup bag was poured out on my front seat and I was like someone was in my car," she said.
