JAMES CITY COUNTY- Health officials want to find a dog that bit a person at a trailer park in Williamsburg/James City County so she won't have to undergo rabies treatment.

It happened June 16 near the corner of Judy Drive and Carol Lane in the Windy Hill Mobile Home Park.

Authorities say the dog is a male, tan and black Pit bull and was wearing blue collar.

Robert Buchwald, the Environmental Health supervisor at the Peninsula Health District, told WVEC.com that the woman who was bitten advised she was walking down the street and the dog was loose. It approached her and bit her on the arm.

Once found, the animal will not be taken away from its owner, only placed on an in-home confinement for 10 days, they stress.

Anyone who has seen an animal that fits this description in this area is asked to contact the Peninsula Health District – Williamsburg Health Department at757 603-4277 . After hours, please contact the appropriate Animal Control office below: James City County Animal Control: 757-253-1800.

Virginia law requires that dogs and cats get rabies vaccinations once they reach three or four months of age.
