CHESAPEAKE-- A local group is holding a skeeball tournament to benefit Special Olympics.

Backyard Sports Club is a group of young professionals who meet and mingle while playing games to benefit local charities, including CHKD.

The tournament is Saturday, Feb. 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1732 Parkview Dr. in Chesapeake.

The cost is $20 per person.  Registration is required.

This tournament will be open to the first 32 teams that register. Each team will consist of two players and there is no gender requirement.

The top two teams will receive a cash prize. Tournament volunteers will also be doing 50/50 raffles to offer a shot at making an instant win throw into one of the goals.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
