NORFOLK - The popular Ghent Winter Bar Tour is this weekend and organizers say it's the most charitable pub crawl in the nation.

Proceeds from the Saturday, February 23rd event will benefit Edmarc Hospice for Children, the only pediatric hospice organization in Hampton Roads.

More than 1,000 people helped raise $22,250 for charity last year. The route takes you on Colley Avenue, 21st Street and the surrounding locale in the historic midtown Norfolk neighborhood of Ghent from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., or whenever the last bar closes.

New this year is the Designated Driver Program since organizers stress the importance of not drinking and driving. Anyone who promises not to drink their way through the crawl can register as a designated driver for $15.00, half the drinker's price. That will get you a designated driver wristband so you can get into the sponsoring establishments and free entrance to the big block party at the The Belmont House of Smoke.

The key phrase this year: NO DRINKING & DRIVING - NO EXCUSES!
