"First Fridays" kicks off in Downtown Norfolk

NORFOLK -- Head downtown Friday night for the first First Fridays Granby Street Party. Downtown Norfolk Council and VEER magazine kick-off the 2014 season and showcase two of the region's best performers and winners of the recent VEER Local Music Awards.

Jeff Maisey of Veer Magazine is tuned in to the local music scene and arranged for two top bands to perform.
    
"The Fuzz Band and Seth Stainback & Roosterfoot have both won top music awards locally," said Maisey.
 
Of the four events held last year, the turnout averaged 1,000 people, according to Jessica Kliner of the Downtown Norfolk Council.

First Fridays in April are free will be held at The Plot in the 100 Block of Granby Street, between Plume Street and Main Street.

The next First Friday will be held at the TCC campus on Granby St.
