NORFOLK-- The USS Oscar Austin homecoming was one father’s first chance to meet his baby boy.

"He was born November 27th, while we were on deployment. He’s my first son, so it’s great to have a boy,” Jonathan Lockett said.

The cold, windy weather didn’t keep families from welcoming the crew home Sunday. The guided missile destroyer served a seven month deployment in the Indian and Mediterranean Seas.

While at away, Executive Officer Dan Diebold rotated over in October as Commanding Officer. "It's really hard for me to put into words how proud I am of this crew. Time and time again, no matter what the mission was or what we were tasked with, they performed superbly.”
