VIRGINIA BEACH -- Members of the Marine Corp’s Chemical Biological Incident Response Force trained today with Virginia Beach first responders to prepare for a large- scale disaster.
Firefighters, city government leaders, law enforcement and military members gathered the Doubletree Hotel on Pavilion Drive to test their readiness for a chemical, biological or nuclear event.
The Marine response force has been training with local emergency crews across the country.
Beach leaders say today’s drill allowed them to assess their ability to manage such an event and figure out how they can coordinate with surrounding jurisdictions.
The scenario they tested was a chemical leak caused by a tornado.
