NAVAL STATION NORFOLK -- Commissaries that closed last week because of the government shutdown were back in business Monday.

Many employees returned to work Sunday to prepare for the reopening.

Staff members posted signs at the commissaries at Naval Station Norfolk and Naval Air Station Ocean informing customers the doors would open at 9:00 a.m. and will have normal hours.

"At the commissary, I get everything I need," said Jessica Cano. "At a regular grocery store, I've noticed I don't get as much for our money, so I was concerned about it not being open, but I'm glad it is. It's very good news!"

Lolita Cline said "I'm going to be here first thing in the morning. I'm sure it's going to be pretty crowded."
