YORK COUNTY-- Hampton Roads is getting a good taste of winter this week. Given a choice, most people would rather stay indoors where it's warm.
Ron Wade is co-owner of Grafton True Value Hardware in York County and says there are simple and inexpensive things you can do to winterize your home. These tips will help keep it warmer and save you money.
Wade says to cover outdoor water faucets and pipes under your home to prevent freezing.
Inside your home, seal cracks around windows to keep the cold air out and the warm air in.
Wade also suggests you cover the vents around the foundation of your house and install insulators on light switches and electric outlets.
All of these tips cost anywhere from a couple of bucks to $10 and most don't require any tools.
Wade says those few things are a good investment and money well spent.
