Ghent home burglaries

NORFOLK - Nine homes in Norfolk's Ghent have been burglarized since late September.

Police say burglars are breaking through front doors of apartments, condos and single-family homes while residents are away. Streets being targeted include Colley Avenue, Graydon Ave., Westover Ave. and Hampton Blvd.

The Ghent Neighborhood League officials are telling residents to look out for an older, green Mitsubishi Galant and to call police if they see it and/or can get a license plate number.

The league is asking residents to keep a watch out and call police if they see anything suspicious.

Police remind everyone to lock their doors and windows and, if you live in an apartment complex, make sure entry doors to your building are secured. They recommend talking with management if building entry doors open open. Police also will conduct a free security evaluation of your residence.
