VIRGINIA BEACH - Virginia Beach Council voted 10 to 0 Tuesday night, in favor of continuing the effort to expand light rail.

During the 6:00 p.m. meeting, council voted in favor of an ordinance that would "authorize the use of all reasonable efforts to support the financing and development of the Tide Light Rail into Virginia Beach."

Preliminary estimates put the cost of extending Norfolk's Tide from Newtown Road to the Oceanfront at more than $800 million.

Va. Beach voters overwhelmingly said 'yes' to exploring the cost of expanding light rail.
