NORFOLK-- The 24th annual Bayou Boogaloo and Cajun Festival was up and running at Town Point Park Friday.
New vendors, fresh from New Orleans, will add to the flavor this year. Chris “Shaggy” Davis and his Nola’s Crawfish King will entice guests with 5,000 pounds of live crawfish straight from Louisiana.
Boiled potatoes, corn, jambalaya, seafood gumbo, crawfish etouffee, po’boy sandwiches, alligator, mufuletta, andouille sausage and beignets will be available throughout the weekend.
Ms. Linda’s famous ya-ka-mein dish will be available, along with Chef Woody’s fish tacos, Jacques-Imo’s shrimp and alligator sausage, and straight from the French Quarter food from the Praline Connection Restaurant.
“There are new, authentic flavors at this years festival. Longtime visitors to our Bayou Boogaloo will love it,” said Dominci Fini with Festevents.
Festival-goers could attend a free opening from noon until 4 p.m. on Friday. Gates open at 5 p.m. and admission is $10 all weekend. Visitors presenting an AT&T phone can enter for free.
Entertainment includes the New Orleans Cottonmouths, Mike Zito And the Wheel and Terrance Simien.
