FRANKLIN -- Firefighters said it took them just 2 minutes to knock out the fire at an apartment in Dorchester Square Apartments, but in that time, they found the bodies of 2 people inside.

"Shock, shock. Speechless. I had no words. I don't think nobody had no words," Alantra Vincent told 13News Now.

Vincent and others said the person who lives in unit was there with her boyfriend Saturday night into Sunday morning.

The two victims were identified Friday morning as 22-year-old Valtonia Shaw and 18-year-old DeLonte Britt.

Captain Ricky Grizzard with Franklin Fire and Rescue told 13News Now firefighters got the call about a fire at about 3:30 a.m.

"They were both good people, and this wasn't expected to happen," said Naylanni Harris.

Friends said Shaw was a mother of two. The children were staying at an aunt's home down the street at the time of the fire.

"Only thing I can say right now is she's gonna be missed," Vincent shared. "She's gonna be missed. Everybody cared about her. She was a fun person."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Deputy Chief Mark Carr said he is fairly comfortable in saying that the fire was accidental.
