NEWPORT NEWS -- Police arrested two people Monday for a double shooting that left one teenager dead and another hurt last summer.

Police charged 19-year-old Allen Kemp, III of the 500 block of Adams Drive in Newport News and 19-year-old Da'Quan Lane of the 1400 block of East Pembroke Avenue in Hampton with second degree murder, malicious wounding, robbery and four counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police said Kemp and Lane shot JerMichael Hundley of Hampton and another teenager while they were in an SUV at The Woodlands of Oyster Point on Forrest Drive on July 8.

Hundley, 17, died a day after the shootings. The other teenager survived.

"I'm glad they caught them, so, 'cause it don't seem like they was gonna stop. From what I hear, they was doing other stuff," said Hundley's mother, Shawna Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald, who moved out of state after her son's death, told 13News Now by telephone her son's accused murderers were supposed to have been his friends. She met Kemp at Bethel High School which her son attended before his killing. Fitzgerald explained Hundley and Kemp had gotten into a fight. They later patched things up and started a friendship.

"The kid been in my house and everything: sat, ate, everything," Fitzgerald said.

"It just sound like a set-up to me, because they knew my son always worked and had money," offered Fitzgerald. "To me, it seemed like the situation, that they got back with him, became best friends with him so they could eventually retaliate."

Hundley was Fitzgerald's only child. She said while he did get in trouble occasionally, his biggest problem was being around the wrong crowd of people. She added that he was an honor roll student and involved in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC).

Kemp is in the Hampton Roads Regional Jail where he is being held on no bond.

Lane is in the Newport News Jail. He also is being held on no bond.
