SPECIAL NOTICE HAMPTON ROADS BRIDGE TUNNEL TIDE GATE TESTING: VDOT will conduct routine tide gate testing at the HRBT on Sunday, June 13, from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. Tide gates are tested every six months. Motorists traveling on both I-64 east and west bound through the HRBT can expect traffic stops of up to 30 minutes as each gate is tested. JAMES RIVER BRIDGE Route 17 North – Motorists should expect single, alternating lane closures on the James River Bridge for bridge repairs and pavement marking, Monday, June 7, through Friday, June 11, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Route 17 South – Motorists should expect single, alternating lane closures on the James River Bridge for bridge repairs, Monday, June 7, through Friday, June 11, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. HAMPTON I-664 North/South – As part of a long-term paving project, motorists should expect lane and shoulder closures: I-664 North – Motorists should expect left shoulder closures at the Aberdeen Road Bridge for median barrier construction through June 24. I-664 South – Motorists should expect a left shoulder and left lane closure at the Aberdeen Road Bridge for median barrier construction through June 24. Additional lane closures may be necessary in this area from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. I-664 North – Motorists should expect ramp closures at the Chestnut Avenue (Exit 4) on-ramp for concrete pavement repairs, Sunday, June 6, through Thursday, June 10, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists should be alert for detours in the area. I-64 East – Motorists should expect single lane closures from the I-664 Interchange (Exit 264) to Armistead/LaSalle Avenue (Exit 265) for paving operations, Sunday, June 6, through Thursday, June 10, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. NEWPORT NEWS Warwick Boulevard East/West Route 60 – Motorists should expect multiple alternating lane closures for construction activities on Warwick Boulevard from Nettles Drive to J. Clyde Morris Blvd. Sunday through Saturday. Anticipate overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6a.m. on both east and west bound lanes. Daytime lane closures should be expected daily from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on east and west bound lanes. These lane closures will be in affect through project completion in June 2010. - Motorists should expect daytime and night time lane closures on Warwick Boulevard, both east and west bound for the duration of the project in order to complete paving operations, signalization and lighting installation, landscaping, & other work necessary to compete the project. Business entrances could be impacted for short periods while paving machines move past the entrances. HAMPTON ROADS BRIDGE-TUNNEL I-64 East – Motorist should expect overnight single lane closures Tuesday, June 6 through Thursday, June 10, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the roadway lighting upgrade to the I-64 East Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. Westbound traffic will not be affected and no weekend closures are planned. The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2011. Motorists are encouraged to use I-664 Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel to avoid delays. Take Exit 264 to access I-664. Use exit 15A for Norfolk and Virginia Beach destinations. DOWNTOWN TUNNEL I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures in the Downtown Tunnel for tunnel sweeping and roadway maintenance, Tuesday, June 8 and Friday, June 11, from midnight to 5 a.m. NORFOLK I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from the I-464 Berkley Interchange to St. Paul/City Hall Avenue (Exit 8) for bridge inspection, Tuesday, June 8, and Wednesday, June 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Hampton Boulevard Grading Project Motorists should expect multiple lane closures, both north and south bound on Hampton Boulevard between “B” Avenue and Rogers Avenue to 90th Street for utility operations, Tuesday, June 1, through Thursday, June 3, daily from 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., nightly from Tuesday, June 1, through Thursday, June 3, from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. Portions of Greenbrier Avenue will be closed to all traffic through August 2010. A detour has been established. Motorists should be alert to detour signs and new traffic patterns in the area. Motorists should expect alternating northbound lane closures at Mapleshade Drive from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. for utility operations. PORTSMOUTH I-264 East – Motorists should expect lane and ramp closures at the Portsmouth Boulevard underpass for deck repair, Monday, June 7, through Wednesday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ROUTE 58 East – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures on Route 58 to Route 164 (MLK Highway) for roadway maintenance, Thursday, June 10, and Friday, June 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. VIRGINIA BEACH Witchduck Road North/South –Motorists should expect single lane closures from Bonney Road to the I-264 Interchange on Witchduck Road and at North Amerbly and Witchduck Road for drain pipe installation, Monday, June 7, through Friday, June 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from the Oceanfront Interchange to Laskin Road (Exit 20) for guardrail repairs, Monday, June 7, and Tuesday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. I-264 East – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from the I-64 Interchange to Rosemont Road (Exit 18) for overhead sign repair and maintenance, Wednesday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. I-264 West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from the I-64 Interchange to Rosemont Road (Exit 18) for overhead sign repair and maintenance, Thursday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. I-64 East – Motorists should expect lane and shoulder closures before Indian River Road (Exit 286) for overhead sign installation, Monday, June 7, through Friday, June 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. HIGH RISE BRIDGE I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect a single lane closure for bridge joint cleaning operations on the High Rise Bridge west bound, Monday, June 7, and Tuesday, June 8, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and east bound, Wednesday, June 9, and Thursday, June 10, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures on the High Rise Bridge for steel grid deck inspection, Saturday, June 12, from 7 a.m. to noon. In the event of inclement weather, the closure will be moved to Sunday, June 13, from 7 a.m. to noon. CHESAPEAKE/NORFOLK I-464 South – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures between the Military Highway Overpass and City Hall Avenue/St. Paul’s Boulevard (Exit 5) for milling and paving operations, Monday, June 7, through Thursday, June 10, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. CHESAPEAKE I-464 North – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures at Military Highway/Route 13 (Exit 2) for guard rail repairs, Monday, June 7, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. I-464 North/South – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from the I-64 Interchange/Route 17 (Exit 1) to Main Street in Norfolk (Exit 5) for roadway sweeping and ditch and slope repairs, Monday, June 7, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Tuesday, June 8, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. I-664 North/South – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from the I-64 Interchange (Exit 1) to Warwick Boulevard/34th/35th Street (Exit 5) for roadway sweeping, Wednesday, June 9, and Thursday, June 10, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. I-64 East/West Restorative Pavement Project – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures from the Bowers Hill Interchange to the I-464 Interchange, daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restorative pavement maintenance work. Work will include patching isolated concrete pavement, increasing the width of the inside shoulder and replacing two lifts of asphalt. These paving operations will continue through August 2011. I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures form the Route 190/Dominion Boulevard (Exit 292) to the I-264 Interchange (Exit 299) for roadway repairs, Sunday, June 6, through Thursday, June 10, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures from I-264 Interchange (Exit 299) to Battlefield Boulevard (Exit 290) for lane and shoulder paving operations, Monday, June 7, through Friday, June 11, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Mt. Pleasant Road South/Fentress Airfield Road West – Motorists should expect a single lane closure at the Mt.
