CHESAPEAKE --The city of Chesapeake has shut down Dominion Blvd near the Steel Bridge while crews work on one of the piers.
The emergency closure will go until Friday morning at 6 a.m., according to Elizabeth Vaughn, Public Works Information Specialist for the City of Chesapeake.
A contractor will be making adjustments to the foamwork on one of the piers.
"Due to the proximity of the pier to the roadway, the contractor chose to close the road to create a safety buffer. Nothing fell and there are no injuries," Vaughn said.
Motorists can use Route 168 Bypass or George Washington Highway as an alternate route.
