HAMPTON -- Expect delays if you have to use the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel early Saturday morning.
The Virginia Department of Transportation will be checking the tide gates between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Maintenance operations for both tubes consist of successfully cycling the tide gates and roadway drain valves.
Drivers will be stopped up to 30 minutes during the testing of the gates east and westbound, VDOT states.
If you don't want to take a chance of getting caught in the delay, take the I-664 Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel during that one-hour time period.
