NEWPORT NEWS - Because of the threat of severe weather from Hurricane Sandy, work to replace the grid on the James River Bridge this weekend has been cancelled.
The work will resume the weekend of Nov. 2.
VDOT says at least six additional weekend lane closures will be required to complete all of the bridge work, and the weekend, single-lane closures will continue through mid-December.
