CHESAPEAKE (AP) -- A new report says Hampton Roads' traffic problems are going to worsen as state and federal transportation funding declines.
The report by the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization says the region's roads and bridges are aging and inadequate for growing traffic volumes. It predicts that the issue will become a crisis in 2017, when state funds for transportation construction run out. Without state funds, the region will lose the ability to obtain matching federal money.
The Daily Press says the planning group will discuss the report at a meeting Thursday in Chesapeake.
