NEWPORT NEWS – Police have arrested a suspect in the hit and run accident that killed a man earlier this week.
Thursday afternoon, police said they arrested James Wright, 50, of Warwick Boulevard.
Authorities believe Wright was driving the car that hit and killed 46-year old Jeffrey Hooks of Connecticut. Hooks was in Virginia visiting family.
A driver spotted his body in the median of Warwick Boulevard in front of Huntington Park Monday morning.
Police believed it was a hit and run and later the same day, the suspect's car was found on North Avenue, less than a mile from the scene.
Wright is in custody and charged with felony hit and run and driving with a suspended license.
